💬 “It all felt hopelessly tangled, one thread entwined with the next.”

📖Synopsis: Two long weeks have passed since Iris and Attie returned from the war front. The girls get another opportunity to report on the war and jump at the chance. Roman is also reporting on the war, but in the under realm for Dacre’s side. Roman’s memories have been wiped, but he has been having dreams that feel very real. A strange letter arrived from the wardrobe and thus began correspondence with a mysterious penpal.  Will Roman stand with Dacre or will he double cross the god?

🖋️Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I liked the Divine Rivals, but I LOVED Ruthless Vows. Iris is still the bold, courageous girl we got to know in Divine Rivals, but now she has a best friend in Attie to lean on, which she desperately needs with Roman missing. The magic world was developed even further in this book, I kept picturing lands like in Lord of the Rings… so it was very easy to visualize and jump in the story with them. In Divine Rivals, the relationship between Iris and Roman was at the front and center of the storyline…but in Ruthless Vows the war takes center stage. We learn more of the background on why the war began, and the current interworking of all sides of the war. More and more people are forced to choose a side, and we slowly learn that not is all that it seems. I could sense some allusions to God and the Gospel, which I found really awesome. Ruthless Vows is a story about hope, trust, and all the battles you fight for the ones you love.
