Until You by Briar Prescott

This was a very moving story, I just finished it and I'm still recovering from the emotional meltdown.

Jude and Blake have a meet cute on a rooftop during a party. It's immediately clear they both are holding something back, but while Jude's past becomes slowly clear to the reader and his life choices and his behaviour are understandable, Blake's one is more confused and not having his pov doesn't help (I was a little disappointed with the author because of that, but after finishing the book, I definitely approve her choice to have a single pov).

Jude doesn't let people in, he's got just three friends and he's content to live a lonely life, savouring his one night stands, but he gives up to Blake's determination to hang out and he actually enjoys all the time they spend togheter, just as friends. Since their first meeting, in fact, Blake has been very adamant about the fact thet he won't have sex with Jude.
Their friendship progresses and so does the sexual attraction until they both surrender to it. Jude tries to go back to his old habits and pulls back, but Blake, once again, "forces" his presence into Jude's life and they start a steady happy relationship. Jude is not romantic at all, but his cynism is lessened by Blake's bright attitude.

It's impossible to comment further without leaving spoiler, but, while Jude's parents situation can be sensed, the plot twist about Blake actually shocked me and I started crying from that point without stopping. I wanted to hate Blake for his pathetic excuses, for his cowardice, but I couldn't really do it: the situation was just bigger than them and there wasn't an easy solution.
I really hate that Jude was hurt again, he didn't deserve that people around him kept heavily influencing his life, leaving him lost. Sarah didn't have any right to be in his life and I'm glad that in the epilogue it's clear they haven't got a warm relationship.
I really liked Blair, Nora and Steph, they were wonderful friends for Jude. I also liked Jude's parents, the chapter about them puts all the story into the right prospective and I'm glad that Jude always had their love in his life.

Highly recommended.

I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.
