A beautifully rendered story featuring two young women both seeking to escape their current reality. Bea is 18, running from an unsafe home, and Lou is 27, running from her grief of losing her mother. Together they embark on a road trip that helps them both explore what they are running from, as well as brings them into a mysterious alternate reality that they must survive together.
Parts of this felt a little unfinished to me - I would have appreciated more developed time in the alternate reality - but I believe it was intended for the reader to come up with their own interpretations. This is a story about many different journeys, and it does not wrap up into a neat and tidy end - instead it lingers in a way that makes one wonder about the next moments, days, weeks, and years of the character's lives.
