This was so cute!! It was such an easy read because I could see myself so clearly in Linh, from her artistic tendencies to the way, she can’t hide her facial reactions. I was also here for how supportive was helping her achieve her dreams, although I wish she helped him a little bit more because he did so much for her. At the same time, I love when a man is so down bad for his woman. Definitely cried when he got Linh’s parents to show up to the art fair.
I also love the multigenerational aspect of it!! It reminded me of fortunes of Jaden women. Except fortunes portrays Orange County a lot better and more accurately (no one calls Bolsa “Bolsa Avenue”) extra points for the 7 leaves reference. I wish the twist at the end with Bao’s uncle and Linh’s aunt wasn’t so out of nowhere; both that plot line with Bao and Linh’s each had a nice buildup.
