I really wanted to like this book. I had high hopes for it because who doesn't love an LGBT retelling of Beauty and the Beast? I was disappointed.
This store took some of the basic elements from the classic story, but it wasn't enough to carry it through. I spent most of my time struggling to follow what little actual plot there was. I feel like I was missing information I was supposed to have already known when I started. There was simply not enough world-building to make me care about anything and the characters were very flat to me. I struggled with being able to explain to someone else what the book was about.
