Silver in the Wood
by Emily Tesh
Coming in at just over 100 pages, this novella tells the story of Tobias, a groundskeeper, and Silver, the lord of Greenhollow Hall. What starts off as a short encounter develops into an enthralling adventure of folklore, dryads, curses and monsters, told with rich, lyrical descriptions. As the book was so short, some sections being underdeveloped, particularly towards the first half of the book. This is the first half of a duology, with the second instalment being released in August 2020. I very much look forward to returning to the mystical Greenhollow with its cast of memorable characters.
