I Found You by Lisa Jewell

5.0

In 1993, 19 year old Mark destroyed a family by taking 15 year old Kirsty into the sea. Neither of them came out. This led to a horrible chain of events, leaving Kirsty's older brother Gray without a sister, without a dad, and needing to look after his mum, unable to move forward with his own life.
Twenty years on, a man is found sitting on that same beach with no ID, no memory of who he is or how he got there. Meanwhile, in London, Lily is desperately searching for her husband who didn't come home.
Who is the mysterious man on the beach, where is the missing man, and how are they connected to Kirsty who tragically lost her life?

What an amazing story. I went into this thinking I knew what was going to happen. I mean, one guy missing, one guy with no memory, obvious, right? Well, apparently not. I did figure out what was going on eventually, but it was very far from what I had originally thought. It was so well written that I was so fully immersed in the story, and I just couldn't put it down. Wanna know my one main issue? Well tough, I'm gonna tell you anyway. My issue was that in the parts of the story from 1993, Gray and Kirsty's parents seemed completely happy with their 15 year old daughter who has never dated or been kissed, going off with a 19 year old that they've just met. They were okay with them going off alone, til 10pm at night, and didn't see that Mark was coming on a little too strong. That bugged me soo much. And honestly, what followed could have been avoided. But, other than that one thing, I genuinely loved this one.
