The Tale of Despereaux
by Kate DiCamillo
This one has been taunting me ever since I rented the movie and watched it with my daughter.
The book, while wholly different to the movie (what with its different characters and alteration of side-plots), was equally as enjoyable. Enough for me to knock it off in a few hours, all the while convincing myself that I would read “just one more chapter”, after all, I kind of knew the ending. 270 pages later, and I’m putting a fully-read story back on the shelf.
I’d recommend this to anyone who’d like a quick, refreshing trip down a path with a lovely-written story about a Mouse, a Princess, Some Soup and a Spool of Thread.
A book I truly could not put down and can't wait to share with my daughter.
