 This is such a beautiful book. I have watched the film many times but had never read the book - I’m so pleased I did. It’s such a lovely, well-written story that captures you. The conversational style of writing makes you feel like your a friend of the author and she’s telling you this whilst attending afternoon tea! The diversity of characters’ personality shines in both the main characters and side characters. I love how the children develop relationships with the locals on their explorations and they like to see justice and help those who need it, even though they themselves are poor. 

 

I loved reading the adventures of the children through the author’s eyes. A beautiful story of love, adventure and courage!
