Metamorphoses by Ovid

I finally finished it!! It’s so awe-inspiring to realize how long people have been storytellers, wrestling with the same questions we do today. There were so many myths that I had never heard of that I can now always carry with me, and I’m just really glad I chose to read this! Super interesting and great translation. Only critique is that it did kinda become a slog to get through toward the end (wars, politics, blah blah blah.)
Special shout out to the murderous witch Georgian princess Medea. You have my heart.
Another special shout out to the passage that actually made tears well in my eyes: “And as he searched the Elysian Fields, he found the wife he had lost and held her close in his arms. At last the lovers could stroll together, side by side—or she went ahead and he followed; then Orpheus ventured in front and knew he could now look back on his own Eurydice safely.” LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
