Indigenous Australia: enduring civilisation by John Carty, Lissant Bolton, Maria Nugent, Ian Coates, Jonathan Jones, Gaye Sculthorpe, Howard Morphy

4.0

A sumptuously produced book to accompany the exhibition of the same name at the British Museum in London.

Lots of photos included, although the subject matter is not very varied (too many baskets, spearheads). Concentrates on the 19th-20th centuries, presumably because that's the best documented period.

I wish there had been more ethnographical detail rather than all the politics. Unless you particularly want a memento of the exhibition, there are better books available on indigenous Australian history, culture, art and craft.
