I'd like to give this book more stars, because the story was incredible. Based on the true memories of an Italian hero during WWII, this book tells a harrowing tale of death, destruction, and sadness. The man and his actions described herein are amazing and I am glad to have read the book.

I wasn't impressed with Sullivan's prose, though, which keeps the rating at 3 stars. Even with that issue, I highly recommend the book.
