An Honored Vow by Melissa Blair: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars! 🌶️.🌶️ Spice!
Summary: The final battle has arrived and with Keera’s final powers awakened, it can either destroy them all or turn the tides on the war. The lands have returned to their former glory and Keera has one last promise to fulfill before she can start anew.
Review: This book was a good conclusion to The Halfling Saga. The authors writing was better in this book and it all flowed really well. The pace of this book was good and had a good mix of action, magic, and a sprinkle of romance. I really loved seeing the side characters come through and take the spot light.
We only get Keera’s POV in all 4 books but in this book she was not my favorite. I’m not going to lie, I lost a little bit of respect for her due to the last chapter. Don’t get me wrong, I like Keera and she had amazing character growth but she is still too hung up on Brenna. However, her powers in this book were so cool and seeing her finally being able to put aside her Blade persona was a relief. I think she did end up happy. Three characters stole the show for me: Gwyn, Gerarda, and Dynara! I loved seeing the side characters get their glory and learn more about their back stories. Now one character that the author did dirty was Riven. Riven had the potential to be such a bad ass character but the author wrote him horribly bc he constantly got the short end of the stick and honestly, Keera did not treat him right. So justice for Riven bc due to how he was written, he was my least favorite character.
Overall, this was a good conclusion and the final battle was amazing but the last chapter and epilogue were disappointing. The ending seemed very selfish from Keera’s perspective and I wanted more from the epilogue as to how everyone was doing post war. However, the magical system so awesome in this book and the new magical beast was a cool surprise. If you’re looking for a book with badass female characters, character growth, war, love and loss - An Honored Vow is for you ⚔️❤️🔥
