The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
2.0

To make it short - I didn't really like this one. :(

I love the world. The fact that there is cloning (Hello, Dodos!), medicine that let muscles be repaired, time travel and people with abilities and at the same time they are flying with airships, don't have cell phones and so on and so on. And the inventions of Mycroft? *flails* I love, love, love this world. ♥

But, I couldn't care less for the characters and the storyline itself. :( I mean, I liked that Thursday is a 36-year-old woman who has been in the military and the police and is great in her job. But still, I couldn't connect to her or the other characters.

The storyline. Well, which was the storyline? The Crimea War and its aftermath or the stolen manuscript of the Dickens or the fact that there is a machine that lets you go into books and "steal" characters out of it? Especially in the beginning it's not clear and when it's finally becoming clear(er), I didn't care anymore. :/ I also wanted to know more about the Crimea War and what's up with Thursdays father (I mean, there has to be some importance to him that he always kept showing up and asking questions and is hunted by the ChronoCops, right?)

So, a huge *flails* and so much love for the worldbuilding and imagination but a huge *disappointed* for the characters and the story itself. :/
