Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

You know the feeling you get when you finish a book and feel so bad that it ended? Every single TJR book made me feel this way.

TJR’s writing always amazes me. The way she writes so realistically is out of this world. Her stories, characters and scenes are always on point. Her fictional celebrities feel so original.

The setting of this book is amazing. It’s the perfect summer read for me with all the surfing and the ocean.

I felt so connected to all the characters. I loved each one of them and i found myself so invested in their separate stories.
Nina was written so beautifully. The perfect description of an older selfless sister who’s ready to take responsibility and not giving up.
They were so loyal to each other and had each other’s back and it was so beautiful to read their journey.

The conversations between the characters were so emotional, raw and written in such an honest way.

I loved the flashbacks. It felt so essential for the whole story and it showed us Mick and June’s relationships and how the Riva’s got to where they are now. It was captivating and made me connect even more with the characters.

The only thing i did not enjoy that much in this book is the side characters chapters in the party. It disconnected me a little bit from the conversations that the main characters were having. Yet i understand why they are there , that they complete the setting and let you get the party vibes.

It’s definitely one of my favorites. I can’t wait for the rest of TJR’s masterpieces.
