This seemingly hopeless, trauma-filled saga managed to have bits of lightness that made it worth continuing on just to hope it would stay that way.
Kingsolver’s writing is incredibly immersive and visual in a Vonnegut-esque fashion, detailing horrors with a comedic edge that juxtaposes just how closely raw this fiction novel gets to real life.
The pacing felt a bit rushed at the end. Even though it was a saga, I would’ve loved 50 more pages to expand upon the final message.
