This book just wasn’t it for me. Tessa Bailey books have been a hit or a miss for me in the past and I can acknowledge her writing is always excellent but sometimes the storyline or characters just don’t work. This was one of those cases. I felt a real lack of connection between the characters and things felt forced but also really disjointed. I love that there is anxiety representation with Julian, but it really felt like a crutch for his personality. He’s also a super straight-laced and scheduled professor and then completely loses that side around Hallie? It just felt like two different men that were supposed to be the same. His inner thoughts also boarded on creepy, obsessive, and kinda objectifying. Hallie was just flighty and really needed to get her shit together. Her mess is basically her entire personality throughout the book. I don’t see how these two characters fit together and then thrown in the virgin part and this book felt like a cop out rather that really trying to write a good story. This might be good for some readers but it just had too many things that didn’t make this a worthwhile read. 2⭐️, 3.5🌶
