What a ride!
So, now that I've finished this, I looked over reviews, and some of my suspicions have been validated. This book forged ahead and maintained a grittier rock star realism in this era of no tolerance for OW/OM drama. I personally don't get all feral over OW/OM, I don't think it's necessary per se, but I do think it can be done right, and the truth is people are shitty, fuckery happens.
Access to Excess leads to overindulgent behaviour and poor boundaries. Musicians aren't typically retiring to their rooms to knit scarves.
Also, given that this is meant to be an 'enemies to friends to enemies to lovers', the dramatic toxic antics made sense within the context. I did this as an audiobook, and had another actress performed the role of Lennon, I would have enjoyed some of her internal monologues a bit more. It eventually started to get a little repetitive and overwrought, and she would have me rolling my eyes sometimes. I also wish there were more chapters written in Phoenix's POV, but that's just me.
The ending felt abrupt and rushed; some of the middle of this book could have been paired down, and efforts diverted to fleshing out the ending a little more.
If a different female narrator had been cast in the other two books in this universe, I would have read them as well, but I cannot endure more
