I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did, but I literally couldn't put it down. It's not the most well-written fantasy story I've read in that some of the dialogue can be very cheesy/cringey and it leaned SO heavily into every trope possible, but I absolutely loved the actual plot at its core and what the story twisted and turned into. The fast pace made it sooo enjoyable. I also loved the main romance, but there was definitely much more intense sexual scenes than I expected - I did love the way that these sharply contrasted with the action of the fight scenes though. I really appreciated the way that there wasn't a real love triangle, and that it ended up being really easy to root for the main guy and hate the other guy, because it was that much more satisfying to read them get together. So excited for the rest of this series just to see where the plot goes!
