The Seducer's Diary
by Søren Kierkegaard, Søren Kierkegaard
To read this book you need to come with an open mind. The point of the book is not to convince you to think like him, at least that's not what I took from it. The point is to observe.
You're meant to observe the thought process of the narrator and take that information with you out into the world, as a tool to protect yourself.
For me, that's what this book was, and that's why it is one of my most loved books. It is a way to understand the mind of someone you should stay far clear of.
I have tried to imagine myself as the girl, seeing only what she sees and not the thoughts we, the readers, are exposed to, and I am sad to say that it is not all too clear who he is. That's why I say you would take nothing from the book if you judged, but rather miss all of what has been exposed to you.
