Honestly, this book ended up being such a let down for me. I mean, this ended up having the same star rating as the rest of the series so I guess I shouldn't be dissapointed, but I am anyway. This book just started of SO STRONG to me. Book two really ended on a cliffhanger, and this book kicked things off just so action packed immediately. The antagonist in this book is immediately portrayed as such a massive threat, and I was really excited to see the direction this book was going to take us in to defeat it. But then just nothing happened for like 500 pages. This dragged so much. We meandered for so incredibly long, it got so boring.
As I said before the antagonist of this book is a MASSIVE threat, but I guess we're supposed to be glad that he was happy just sitting around twiddling his thumbs for such a long period of time because these main characters had ZERO sense of urrgency AT ALL. We just kept going on side quest upon side quest. The focus just felt in all the wrong places. Like I said, that made this a bit of a bore to me. I also feel like the ultimate resolution/final battle flew by. There barely was any struggle at all, and completely undermined what was set up earlier, in my opinion.
So yeah, can you see now why I thought this was a massive dissapointement? Now, I have only mentioned negative things about this book, so you might wonder how this even got 3 stars. I did stil quite like this book. Yes, the plot dragged quite a bit, but I did think the direction this took our characters in was very interesting. They had some developement that was really well done, and I ADORE where our main cast ended up. That part of the ending felt so incredibly satisfying, as everyone is just in a place that's perfect for them. I also think we learn some interesting things about the world, and the magic. Despite this book being over 600 pages I also just absolutely flew through it, and basically inhale read it. So it's truly not like it was all bad for me. It's just that it's hard to not let the complete dissapointement take over.
