I have a lot of conflicting emotions regarding this.

On the one hand, I really enjoyed Sloan as a character. I was eager to hear about her journey and I don't think I came away disappointed.

But then Jason was...okay. Like he wasn't terrible but then when he wanted to literally knock Sloan up while he was on tour and then got upset when she was being reasonable did not sit right with me.

The pacing was also...weird. Like it felt like so many plot points and conflicts were thrown in and it felt like a book filled with filler episodes. I think it would have read better if it focused more on Sloan's journey back to herself and not into another man and then that man's rockstar image. It honestly felt like reading different books a lot of the time. The beginning half felt typical rom-com and then the latter half felt like reading Daisy Jones and the Six.

Also, the miscommunication drove me up a wall. Not as much as the last book, but still. Y'all grown and paying grown people bills but can't openly discuss your feelings? Also, miss me with that epilogue. It was immediately ruined for me when Sloan was sitting backstage, PREGNANT, and seemingly happy as can be.

I did enjoy some things about this, and it did feel like a step up from the last (first) book, but also the same formula of miscommunication and pregnancy. I feel a little put off from reading more of this author right now. Might change my mind eventually, but Jimenez's brand of romance thus far does not seem to be for me.

OH HEY AND I WAS JUST REMINDED OF THIS BUT MAYBE ADD A TRIGGER WARNING WHEN YOU'RE GONNA DROP IN A RANDOM SELF HARM SCENE WTF
