Five on a Treasure Island by Enid Blyton
5.0

I started reading The Famous five series as a child but never read them in order or all of them. This first book was one of the ones I haven't read, but have read in a comic version that was produced at some point.

I now have my own 2 children and with my daughter been 9 I decided it was my chance to read the series in full while at the same time encouraging her reading to improve, so a shopping trip was in order. We bought the first 2 books which she started reading straight away. After she fell asleep I retrieved the first book and started my reading. I have to say my reading must have sped up a huge amount as I'm sure it took me longer all them years back.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the introduction to the four children and Timmy the Dog and I'm waiting for my daughter to catch up now so we can get the 3rd book for me to move on to since I've almost read the 2nd too. They are still as enjoyable now as they were then, and it's lovely to be able to enjoy them and talk about them with my own daughter as I did with my mum (who is also waiting to start reading book 1). My next task is to get my 6 year old son involved since he's doing so well with reading now.
