I was hesitant to try this book — I've loved Sarah Dessen since I first read The Truth About Forever and then worked my way backward through her previous books, but the last two I read (Lock and Key and Along for the Ride) didn't seem as good to me. What Happened to Goodbye proved to me that Dessen hasn't lost her skill. Like her earlier books, it was a fast, but somewhat thought-provoking, read, full of interesting new characters and some nice glimpses of old ones. The ending felt a little rushed and predictably contrived, but, otherwise, I loved this book.
