sad
medium-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? A mix
- Strong character development? It's complicated
- Loveable characters? No
- Diverse cast of characters? It's complicated
- Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes
2.0
welp, this isn’t the start to my 2021 reading year that I wanted :(((
Positives: such a diverse cast of characters (and tons of LGBTQIA+ rep!), the subject matter is relatable (especially in regards to first love and first heartbreak)
The not-so-great aspects: the storytelling felt all over the place for me - some more hard-hitting topics felt thrown in for the sake of adding more angst/creating a more “serious” tone (specifically the storyline with Doodle near the end); I personally didn’t enjoy the color palette as much as I thought I would (reading this on my iPad didn’t help - it was hard to follow as the colors were so similar and the panels overlapped each other frequently).
Overall I’m so sad that I didn’t enjoy this!

Moderate: Emotional abuse
Minor: Rape and Abortion
