Pretty, Dark and Dirty
by Margot Scott
Right before I clicked ‘Currently Reading’ I had a moment of embarrassment at adding this book to my Goodreads. I love dark, smutty books but I’m not real familiar with anything labeled Taboo. I thought the worst, then I took a deep breath... and jumped into it, ready to test my comfort zones.
This might be a testament to the issues I have, or maybe it’s the authors ability to move me with her storytelling (much safer option) but... this wasn’t the shocker I was expecting. I knew going into it that Mason was not Jett’s real father, but I still expected the most taboo story. What I found was a situation that was handled with the most care. In the end, I don’t feel any more traumatized than I was to begin with. Sure, Mason, Jett and her mother are a Jerry Springer episode waiting to happen. But Scott managed to move my POV from a dirty, shameful one to a more ‘they were obviously soulmates’.
And that ending!
