The Forbidden Notebook by Alba de Céspedes

3.5

I think it was interesting to look at the perspective of what it’s like to be a women, mother and wife in society. I like the key points of how we are obligated to do everything and sacrifice a lot of ourselves. I think I would’ve liked it better if there was more substance, however, I can understand that she was expressing her distaste with life as she was boxed into her role from the beginning. I wouldn’t say it was a bad book, just not necessarily for me at the moment. It made me reflect a lot on the experiences of motherhood but since I’m not in that space, I couldn’t necessarily relate.
