I first looked at this cookbook because I was looking for allergy-friendly recipes and first read It Starts With Food, by the same author. It turns out that this diet is all about ridding the body of inflammation. I happened to have some inflammation (pain in some areas) that was not responding to the treatments I was receiving. I did the 30 days and was pain-free at the end. I also lost 10 pounds. Win!

This protocol is very restrictive. Basically, I didn't eat anything that was known or suspected to cause inflammation. I was willing to give it a try. Luckily, it worked! Unluckily, that means that I have to live with a pretty restrictive diet or be in pain. My choice, I guess. I was able to add some things back in.

Some of the recipes have become absolute favorites around here. I make mayonnaise, ranch dressing and the super-delicious red pepper sauce from the book all of the time. The other recipes are simple and yummy. It is a good way to eat most of the time!
