City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert

This book was a journey.

Let's start by saying that I enjoyed it a lot, specially combining the physical book and the audiobook, I think the narrator did a FANTASTIC job portraying Vivian and the writing style was incredibly engaging, especially when the protagonist would mention Angela as her reader and foreshadowed whatever it could come in future chapters.

I think this book tried to do too much for a stand alone. Don't get me wrong I understand that a saga would not make sense with this type of story, however, you felt like Vivian lived 3 or 4 full lives in and you were getting into all the details about all of them. By the end, I felt like the pacing was too slow and that the story was dragging a little bit, so I went from a 4* to a 3*.

I loved Vivian's narration about her time at Peg's theatre company - Lily Playhouse- and I wish we learned a little more about the rest of the women, especially Celia's backstory.
