Alone and Away are novels in verse about a single event, a town is told there is a threat and they must evacuate. Alone is told from the POV of a child inadvertently left behind and how she survives; Away is told from multiple POVs of children who are evacuated. Which to read first? I have seen lists with one or the other as #1.  Alone was written first and I read it first. In my opinion, it should be first. I don’t think it would be as powerful if read second.
