I feel like I say this about every trilogy I read but IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DUOLOGY
The pacing in this was so off and IT DRAGGED ON for literally no reason T_T if the first and second book had been a bit longer to wrap up the story and christ just cut the entire thing with the Tatars it could have been so good,,,,,,
what I loved the most about the first book was how pastoral and magical it was with the magic actually feeling dangerous at times,,it probably doesn’t help that I really wasn’t on board with the romance in this,,,,,like at all,,,Morosko should have stayed a dangerous demon of winter and death and not bootleg Howl from Howls Moving Castle
and don’t get me started on the “Diversity Win! The Demon who wanted to make you his slave and the priest who wanted to burn you at the stake are gay!” LIKE HEAR ME OUT I LOVE THAT FOR THEM but ,,,,it wasn’t fleshed out at all,,,,LIKE AT ALL and Konstantin deserved better for carrying almost all of the tension this series has T_T
anyway,,,first book was excellent, second book was good, third book I pretend I do not see :)
