Insightful, moving story about the struggles and fears of a 7th grader whose mother is dealing with depression. I liked the strong, supportive friendships, and I was fascinated by her journey to understand what her mother is going through. This is a story that brought tears as I felt the main character's frustration. The fears of being a cause or a contributing factor felt realistic, as did her desperate desire to find a fix or cure.
It's a short novel which has pros and cons. I do wish there had been more time to explore why the mother character wasn't in therapy. I'm sure there was a good reason, but I didn't fully grasp it.
This is the second book I've read by this author, and I'll definitely be watching for more! The author has a talent for handling difficult topics with compassion and an uplifting tone.
