A Column of Fire by Ken Follett

2.0

Pillars of the Earth was one of my favorite books in college, unfortunately each Follett book I read gets more and more disappointing (to the point where I wonder if I need to re-read Pillars to see if it is actually as good as I remember it being). In the case of A Column of Fire, the book seemed about 250 pages longer than it needed to be, and there were a lot of jarring instances of modern idioms and language that really didn't fit with the time period jammed into dialog/narration/etc.
