Curses and Thunder by April Gaisford

5.0

I had no idea what I was getting into when deciding to read this book and I'm really glad I gave it a chance. I immediately was drawn to the simple yet whimsical cover.
The story begins exploring the journey of Jasmin (FMC), a princess, who needs to find her true love to break the curse surrounding her kingdom. I was really enjoying the lighter fantasy side of the story, but the further I read, a more twisted and complicated story began to unravel. An emotional past threatened to burst through.
I read this book in almost one complete sitting. I love the unique quirks and qualities of the characters as well as the not so wonderful characters.
As I neared the end of the book, I knew I was going to be left with unanswered questions, but I loved it either way. Now to impatiently wait for book two.
Highly recommend this book for fantasy lovers who want a twist plot, romance, banter, and mild-moderate spice. If you don't want any of that, at least read for the adorable dog Finn.
