Pleasantly surprised by this book. Engaging, good story, I cared about the characters.
I think there was overuse of the back and forth of the struggles of the characters. Typical adventure story where there is a danger/problem, then it is solved (temporarily or permanently). Then another danger/problem, then it is solved. On and on like a sine wave. But this was mitigated by the fact that the plot twists were not entirely predictable.
