Kushiel's Chosen by Jacqueline Carey

Did not finish book. Stopped at 9%.
I gave up because I was so disgusted with how Judaism was morphed with Christianity. I'm Jewish, and to have pieces of our religion explained within Christian terms is just...blech. I like the idea of exploring a Europe that didn't become overwhelmingly Christian, but to suggest that if Christianity didn't take hold all Jews would be the "Messianic Jews"/Christians in Jewish drag is disappointing. It's like the author didn't bother to wonder why Jews stayed Jews and did not followed Jesus. Course it doesn't make sense if you only get the Christian interpretation of (a small part) of our holy texts.

I gave up specifically when Chai חי was explained in terms of Jesus's resurrection. Gag.
