Black Order by James Rollins

4.0

An exciting thrill ride for fans of secret societies, history, action, and international action-spy adventure. The story follows doctors, spies, soldiers, and game wardens as strange-goings on occur around their various missions. As the body count rises, each character must use their knowledge to uncover what is happening, but keep the rest of humanity intact.

This is very much a James Bond style thriller with bombastic action and high stakes. There are plenty of intense moments and danger that push the characters further along their plot. That said, there are good moments of character growth as each protagonist faces a life-altering choice near the end.

Suspension of disbelief is high here, but I still found the content enjoyable. While BLACK ORDER shows its age at times, it was still a good book to enjoy and would be a fun way to spend a weekend.
