- new series
- wolf shifters
- existing universe
This is a spin off series set in an existing universe from other series (Reckless Damned, Damned Connections), but very much stands separate and can be read alone as the start of a new series. I was dying for Finlay's story and I wasn't disappointed AT ALL. Finlay we met before briefly, but I loved getting to know him better here. He's been through a lot over all his years and I was so keen to see him get his HEA. Chester we met briefly too and I was delighted to find out he'd be getting his own story too. Chester has also been through a lot when we meet him, all at the hands of a less than ideal ex.
I loved the setting in Scotland too, the loch definitely plays a part in Finlay and Chester's romance, with lots of 'accidental' nudity 😂. Finlay of course knowing he's being watched by Chester and doing it deliberately - it's fun and cheeky and I loved it. Watching these two come together slowly and fall for each other was so heartwarming, it's all so low angst and Finlay is the most patient man, knowing what Chester's been through and just wanting to help. I loved these two together and couldn't put this down. There's the side threat of a rival shifter clan that's still there, adding a little bit of peril to the proceedings and it's a thread that I think will run through the other books in this series.
Bring on Evan and Reid, I need it.
