This was a pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed the character dynamic of the last book of Adele Parks I read, so I thought I'd give this a shot. In the end who doesn't want to win the lottery?
This one had me fizzing with excitement, anger, envy, empathy and adrenaline. Parks knows how to send you on a emotional rollercoaster. I desperately wanted to rate it five star all the way through, then I was thought it can't end with as simple ending as that can it? That's when it didn't... The ending had me thinking well how did I not even consider that possibility.
This is the kind of book I adore. All the characters are so fleshed out and irritatingly human that you find yourself shouting expletives at them. The plot is twisty and the payoff is super satisfying. Probably my favorite book of the year!
