Thank you netgalley for the ARC of the audiobook of this one.
This story very much felt like a character study for the family that it had revolved around, which I feel worked in its favor. The dystopian world, destroyed by climate change and rife with realistic issues coming from such a world felt all too much like one we are heading in, though I do find it hard to believe that the rest of the world would step away from technology so quickly with how ingrained it is everywhere, not just the US.
I will say, as someone that has a problem with guessing plot twists way too soon and easily, that there were a few that actually surprised me.
As the ARC I received was an audiobook: the narrator spoke clearly and kept from the all too known issue of monotone reading at times. The accents were rather inconsistent at times, however.
