Oh dear. This was so not mine... The story is, that Harold gets a letter from an old friend, who's going to die - and he simply goes of, to visit her - going all the way on foot. I really liked that idea - and it is something I could see myself doing.
What ruined the book for me is the main character. What others might love about him, is what makes me wanna shake or slap him....
He decides to go there - others start to go with him, the it's make a big deal out of it. The others think another way would be better - and though he doesn't like it - he does what the others want. He is really, really weak, and can't stand up for himself - and by that bugs me to no end... I disliked him so much after while, that I really couldn't even like the story anymore.
This is a very personal opinion - others might not find that annoying, or even like him and the story for that. But it's a human trait I just can't stand...
