The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Did not finish book.
I feel like I’m betraying my people...... (and by my people, I mean my fellow homeschooled nerds) but... I can’t stand this book. I couldn’t finish it! I really, really tried, I got to chapter 15 (about 100 or so pages in, 15% of the enormous book) and I just— it seemed like it SHOULD be interesting, but it just WASN’T.

The first eight chapters were utterly pointless, basically just a loooooooooong and boring set up, and then when we FINALLY got to the story (the first person narrative), I will admit, I was intrigued! It got interesting!

........ but then 5-6 chapters later, we haven’t really gotten anywhere with that story.

IN SUMMARY: I am confident that this story is probably worth it if you have the patience! I enjoyed the world and magic system Rothfuss was creating... he just took so long creating it, and I got bored. Multiple times.

But! That doesn’t mean this isn’t a good book! I’m sure it is! It’s just not for me, I’m afraid.

I’M SORRY
