Annie Bot

It was definitely engaging and I wanted to actively dive back into it, but I find myself coming up empty in terms of how profound or useful the storytelling really was. I like to think about the ethics of AI (or AI adjacent beings I guess) and totally can imagine a world where men do take this tech and make it into sex bots. But I’m disappointed in some of the world building here, especially when it comes to the Stella company at large. Women get three identities (nanny, maid and sex toy) whereas men only are fix it guys? What was the thought behind Tammy and why did she disappear? And the doctor, his idea to put AI in a silicone body just went completely out the window? Happy for Annie when it’s all said and done, but I’m not convinced this said anything profound to me. Then again, am I really happy for her if she just returns to a life where she relies on a man? But if it’s her choice, then is it anti feminist to say so? LMAO
