She Started It by Sian Gilbert

dark mysterious tense slow-paced

2.0

-4 (terrible) women (childhood bullies) get invited to a private island to celebrate a bride to-be (the girl they bullied) and for some reason they think they should go??
-each woman gets their own POV chapters, but truly you would never know because they all sound exactly the same and i had to keep flipping to the beginning of the chapter to look at the name of who is talking
-took FOR EV ER to get to the current secrets they are keeping from each other, even though they are somehow best friends? i get it people drift, but all of this was so strange
-too repetitive, honestly y'all for such a short book, it felts like it took years to get through
-yes, maybe i should have DNFd, but i own this book so i had some sort of NEED to finish it, like how i hate throwing away food i didn't finish
-skimmed the last like, idk less than half but still more than a quarter
-saw the "major" twist coming
-poppy's diary entries were good bc they highlighted just how awful bullying can get, even tho no one writes their diary entries that way, esp when they are upset and crying. mine all looked like scribble scrabble in middle school for sure
-two stars instead of one, bc the author really did capture what it is like to be bullied so hard you wanna unalive yourself, however, the fact that NO ONE picked up on how bad it really was, esp when the art exam thing happened, is incredibly unbelievable
