Poirot Investigates
by Agatha Christie
Agatha Christie has a writing style like no other. It feels timeless and effortless.
Poirot investigates is made up of a number of short stories in which Poirot and Hastings work to solve various mysteries.
I admit, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the short story format for this. Part of what I enjoyed about The mysterious affair at styles was the depth to which the characters and situation was explored. That was really lacking with these short stories.
That being said, there were a couple of stand out ones for me. I thoroughly enjoyed The adventure of the Egyptian tomb and the case of the missing will. I thought both were unique, gripping whilst being lighthearted too. The character of Poirot is a fantastic blend of serious and humour that I adore. However, I do wish that these two storylines had been more substantial. I felt they were so unusual that I would have much preferred a book with just those two, with more detailed versions.
I would recommend this book to any Agatha Christie fans, or anyone who loves short stories. It certainly makes for easy reading!
