For a historical romance with a provocative book cover, there was very little romance in this book. Much of the romance was detailed in the thoughts, hopes and dreams of the main characters, Will and Anne. However, the historical aspects of the book was researched well. As a fan of history, I enjoyed reading about the trials and tribulations faced by various characters during the Jacobite uprising.  The intrigue was well presented and kept the pace of the book moving forward. Overall, an enjoyable read.
