Frozen Hearts and Death Magic by Day Leitao

4.0

While so many books will focus more either on world building or character development, what you get in Frozen Hearts and Death Magic is such a carefully constructed blend of both. I found this fantasy romance to be so fun to read. Filled with some really wonderful characters, each facing their own individual obstacles, this book has such intriguing politics, interesting family dynamics, with plenty of secrets and deception.

This focuses on our four main characters Naia, Fel, River and Leah. Twins Fel and Naia have this really great magic. River is a fae. And Leah, while she has love for Fel, is betrothed to another and must endure the cruelty at the hands of her betrothed's family. I first thought this book was going to focus solely around Naia and the forbidden love with River, the beautiful white fae she rescues from the brink of death. I didn't expect to love Leah so much. I felt that all four characters were just phenomenal in their own ways with what they bring to the story.

This was so much fun to read and what is even better? This is only the first book in a duology and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the next one!
