Hook, Line, and Sinker by Tessa Bailey

5.0

This book cemented me as a Tessa Bailey fan for life.

This book is everything.

My single regret whilst reading: not having read it’s companion novel, It Happened One Summer, first. As that book introduced our leads as secondary characters, I would have loved to have been more familiar with their background history, as well as the history of our secondary cast who were the leads in the companion book.

But I digress.

This book is perfect. 5 stars. No complaints. It is a gorgeous heartfelt read led by two beautiful protagonists: Hannah and Fox.

I so admired wonderful Hannah’s selflessness, her care for others, and especially her belief in Fox.

Then there’s gorgeous Fox, I loved how he paid attention-- how every text Hannah sent him was something he filed away in his mind.
I hated seeing his insecurities and disgust towards himself lead to him undervaluing his worth. Both he and Hannah struggled with their self-worth. Hannah never seeing herself as leading lady material, and Fox not seeing himself as worth more than a good lay. Their friendship and support helped one another towards personal growth, as well as strengthening that romantic bond.

What I loved of this book was the importance of self-worth. Yes, this is a love story, and romance takes center stage, but so does empowering one's self with the recognition of their value.

Becoming the people they want to be, trusting themselves and each other, and recognizing their value and worth places Hannah and Fox as one of my all-time favorite romantic pairings. Their personal arcs and intertwining romance is empowering and beautiful.

This book was read practically in one sitting, but I wish I could erase it from mind just to experience its delight for the first once again.
