kristahn 's review for:
Murder by Lamplight
by Patrice McDonough
I was so excited to read this one. I thought it was right up my alley. Since I love historical fiction and thrillers, I thought this combo would be perfect.
The overall story was ok. However, the book reads like a research paper at times. Too many times. Due to this, I had a hard time being drawn in.
That being said, I did enjoy the main character being a female doctor in a time that female doctors weren't heard of much. She took charge of her life and went to medical school far from her family - across the ocean. Another not very common life event for a woman in this time period!
