Yours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoirs of the Mistress of the Dark by Cassandra Peterson

4.0

I usually have an audiobook going in my car for my commute back and forth to work. Generally, I only listen to audiobooks in my car. However, once I started listening to this one, I couldn't stop listening to it as I was absolutely mesmerized and started listening to it while I was working and at home to finish it over two days!

As a very young girl, I remember Elvira and always thought she was "super cool" (that's 7 year old me saying that lol) and I have always had a love for cheesy B rated horror movies and of course, Halloween. I seriously cannot watch the horror movies created today, they creep me out too much.

I really enjoyed learning of her life beginning at childhood and ending at present day. Having met so many now well-known people had me in awe. I would have loved to have grown up in this era! I could have given being a Vegas Show Girl a whirl I think....lol

Hearing some of her stories had me cringe. Her time in Europe in particular sounded scary especially at times she was alone but she always managed to preserve and move on. It is heartfelt to know she is in a good place in her life now at age 70 with so many great memories and adventures in her past to reflect on in this memoir.

Definitely recommend this on audio as you get to experience her personality and humour while listening.
